We're not in Kansas anymore...

It's been about 2 months since we moved to Arizona now, and so far we are loving it here. However, I have definately realized a few things since we've been here. Just to name a few....

1. We would be completely lost without the GPS. Seriously! I don't know how people survived moving before GPS.

2. Purchasing Rosetta Stone may be inevitable. I swear there are more spanish radio stations than there are English. I'm definately considering taking some sort of class....because the 3 years of spanish I took at Battery Creek just aren't cutting it. I do love those Mexicans and their food though!!

3. It's no longer socially acceptable to go places looking like a bum. It onc cared if you went to the store or to grab something to eat after you worked out or just didn't feel like doing your hair and putting on make-up that day. Well...reality check! Normal people in other places don't do that. haha

4. The desert isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I remember Kenny's mom telling me that the desert is really beautiful in it's own way, but growing up surrounded by water and trees I thought it would be a major adjustment for me to become a desert girl. As we were driving into Arizona and over bridges that went over "rivers" that were completely dried up I thought I was doomed. But since we've been here I have found so many things that I love about the desert. One of my favorites are all of the flowers and other weird plants. Who knew there could be so many flowers growing out of a bunch of rocks and sand? My favorite flowers are called bougainvillea ( I know right...say that 10 times fast) and they are growing everywhere on the sides of the road. They remind me of azaleas. I love them.

5. Eating dinner outside on the patio may become one of my new favorite pastimes. The weather was so nice when Kenny and I moved here (no bugs or humidity) that we ate dinner outside everynight. I love it. Apparently it isn't quite as nice during the hot Summer months, but we will definately be taking advantage of it the rest of the year!

6. Last but not least....I have been reminded of all of the reasons I married Kenny. Not that I forgot, but 2 months of moving and traveling with no job and TONS of time together (literally we spent almost every second of every day together before we both got jobs) most people would have probably gotten sick of each other by now. For me though, it was a reminder of how lucky I am to be married to my best friend. In a way I'm glad it took so long for us to find jobs so we had that extra time to spend together before he starts school, we have a brand new baby, and life gets crazy!

Here are a few more pictures from our new home :)

Back in the game.... it's been a long, long time since I've posted anything. Honestly-I'm not really the blogging type. However, since we recently picked up and moved (again) far away from most of our family I decided to give it another try so we can keep friends and family up to date on all of the exciting things happening in our lives right now. I'll do my best....but not making any promises ;) So here are just a few things that have happened in the last few months. This is probably going to be a long post, so bear with me!
In December I finally accomplished one of my long-time goals and graduated from nursing school! I am so excited to be finished with 2 years of craziness and can't wait to start my career doing something that I love so much! I will always be grateful for the amazing support I had from my family and friends so that I could reach this goal. Whether it was being patient with me when I was freaking out about something or friends who were just understanding when they hadn't heard from me for months....I appreciate it all. I feel blessed to have made it through such a strenuous program.
About a week after I graduated, we found out I am pregnant. We were pretty much ecstatic because we had been trying for a while with no luck. But I really believe it was meant to happen when it did. Today I am 22 weeks exactly and our litte girl is expected to arrive on August 18th. She already has Kenny wrapped around her finger. We can't wait to meet her :)
His first order of business when he found out it was a girl.
21 wks, 1 day
Starting in January, Kenny started to hear from and interview at several different schools for their Doctorate of Physical Therapy(DPT) programs. It was a long and stressful 2 months as we waited to find out if he had been accepted and where we would be spending the next 3 years of our lives. He ended up getting into 5 different schools....which we've been told is pretty much unheard of these days because it's such a competitive field right now. He decided on the program at Franklin Pierce University in Arizona. I am so proud of all of the hard work he had done to get to this point and so excited he is finally going to start doing what he loves!
So....when he decided on Arizona we started packing. Kenny doesn't start school until August but we wanted to find a doctor and get settled sooner rather than later. Before we headed out our roomate (and one of our favorite people) Kristina threw a going-away party for us. It was really fun to get one last chance to see everyone before we left but bittersweet to have to say goodbye. We have so many good friends and memories there. It will always be home to me, but we are so excited for everything that is ahead of us though and can't wait to see what our future has in store for us.

Bon Appetit !

So....we all know that my cooking skills are a little less than....well.....we'll just say they aren't your average culinary masterpiece. Some of my most memorable cooking experiences include: crunchy noodles in pasta salad, and burning rice crispy treats. Yes, I said it. I BURNT rice crispy treats. Don't ask how that happened. I tend to blame the A.D.D. It's not ALWAYs inedible though. I can bake pretty well, I'm great with a crock pot(but who isn't right?), and I can whip up some pretty tasty meals every now and then. Let's face it though, after a while the same meals get old. So this month I have decided that I'm finally going to learn how to cook some new things. I found a month-long meal plan that I'm going to try to follow. It has tons of things that I've never cooked I'll be able to learn all kinds of fun stuff. Kenny will be my taste tester.(He can't wait...haha)
Today was day 1. The meal was Tilapia with peppers and olives. The whole fish thing worried me a little, because I never cook fish. Love seafood. Just can't cook it. Go figure that day 1 was Tilapia. I didn't even know if I liked tilapia...much less know how to cook it. But that's why I'm doing this right? So I cooked it, and believe it or not, it actually turned out to be pretty tasty. I've even included a picture for you. The first is the picture from the recipe of how it's supposed to look. The second is the picture I took of the finished product.

Pretty good if I do say so myself :) I was just proud that I didn't ruin it. It even got the thumbs up from I guess this one will be added to the recipe book. Bon Appetit!

Our New Niece

So we've decided to stay in South Carolina for a while. I started school here in August, and turned my application for the nursing program last month. So right now I'm finishing up a few prerequisites, and we're crossing our fingers that I get to start the program in January! Hopefully we'll find out within the next month or so. We're missing our families, but looking forward a warmer winter here in the South.
Last week we flew out to Utah to meet our new niece Brylee Jaye and spend some time with our families. We are so excited to have this new little sweet spirit in our family! She is a cute girl....and she has already decided who her favorite Aunt and Uncle are. (See below) ha ha.

While we were there BYU had a Kenny got to go with his dad. It is the only one he'll get to go to this season, so he had to take advantage of it (and the magic cookie bars his mom makes for every game....mmm)!

Overall it was a good trip though....we ate a lot, hung out with our families, and watched a lot of "Grey's Anatomy" (we're finally caught up now!) It was nice to be off of work and relax!

Almost a year later..... I started this blog almost a year and forgot about it almost immediately. I told myself I'm not really a blogger at heart. But Kenny and I were looking at Charis and Craig's blog and we were really bored. So I decided to go ahead and update ours. So here goes.....
Right now we are living in Beaufort, SC (my home town) working for the Summer. We've both been enjoying the beach and the warm weather and we've even thought about staying a little longer than the summer. I guess we'll see what happens!

About 2 weeks ago Kenny and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary. I surprised Kenny with a trip to Florida. I packed all of his stuff and packed up the car without him even knowing. He was completely surprised! While we were there we went to St Petersburg and Orlando. In St. Petersburg we went to the beach and Kenny got to swim in clear water for the first time ever. Then we drove back up to Orlando and spent a couple days there.
Our first night someone rear-ended us and the scion got totalled. It was a sad day! But luckily no one got hurt. We tried not to let it ruin our trip. The rest of the time we went to Wet N Wild and a few other places. Kenny even got really brave and went on the Sky Coaster and the Slingshot with me. He is now an adrenaline junky! I love it!

We went on a cruise to Ensenada, Mexico for our honeymoon and had a blast. We've both decided that cruisin' is the best way to travel because there is food 24/7 and always something to do. Ensenada was very dirty, and didn't seem to have the best economy. It made us grateful for what we have. They did however have the Black Pearl....from "Pirates of the Carribean", and whales, and a beach(which is really all I wanted). So it was fun. We are already planning the next cruise.
